No, November 3 itself is not Aunt Nancy Day. This peculiar and unique holiday “floats,” usually within the month of November. It hasn’t been this early in recent years, and the invitation to my “celebration” took me by surprise.
I went out with Mom, Diamondqueen, That Poor Man, and the two Hooligans to dinner. We’ve become fond in a very short time of a local Mexican restaurant called El Picante, which we tried for the first time in August. It was someplace we were all happy to go, and I was pleased because I could get one of my occasional frozen margaritas.
It was a noisy, fun time, with S.Hooligan keeping up her steady flow of blaring chatter. J.Hooligan got the chips and salsa that he loves, Mom got her favorite burrito, we laughed a lot. It was fun.
There wasn’t quite time for the “special activity” planned for after dinner, but I wheedled it out of Diamondqueen that we were to go to one of those paint-your-own-pot places. Rather than rush it, we’ll do it on another night and really enjoy it – and extend my celebration just a bit longer.
In the meantime, though, I got a handmade card and a gift card to Hobby Lobby. Spending money on crafts and needlework is also a great way to keep the celebration perking!
